ABOUT THE EVENT

The Busselton Festival of Triathlon, entering it’s 24th year in 2025, has become a beloved event for our WA triathlon community. Our event started in Collie, and journeyed to Rottnest Island and Margaret River before making it’s permanent home in beautiful Busselton. Since then, the Festival has grown and now spans an entire weekend, attracting over 2,100 participants annually to join the swim, bike, run fun!

Let's chat about Wetsuits! 🏊𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝘁𝘀𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱?The official ruling for wetsuit use is made on race day. Technical Officials will take a water temperature reading 24 hours before race start, and then another reading on race morning. The wearing of wetsuits will be conditional upon these readings. If the combined air and water temperature are deemed too low, the race referee (in conjunction with water safety) can rule it a compulsory wetsuit swim. The below info is the most likely outcome, based on the long-range forecast and past years of the event.𝗕𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗸𝗲:Wetsuits are likely to be mandatory for these races, which means you will have to wear a wetsuit for the swim or you will not be allowed to race. All Busselton 100 and Aquabike athletes must bring a wetsuit just in case.𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗼𝗻 (𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿):Wetsuits will likely be optional for Sprint and Enticer athletes, which means you can wear your wetsuit if you want to. If you have a wetsuit, please bring it with you on race day just in case.𝗞𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗼𝗻:This is a very short swim, so wetsuits will likely be optional which means you can wear your wetsuit if you want to.𝗪𝗲𝘁𝘀𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀:If a wetsuit is to be worn, then it must cover at least the torso. The wetsuit must be tight to the body and less than 5mm thick. Short arms or legs are ok. A full wetsuit covering arms and legs is allowed. Stinger suits are not suitable. If you have any questions about your wetsuit, please email athlete services - [email protected]𝗔𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲: www.busseltonfestivaloftriathlon.com.au/athlete-guides ... See MoreSee Less
