Entries opening for the 2018 SunSmart IRONMAN 70.3 Busselton

Triathlon WA is excited to launch the 2018 SunSmart IRONMAN 70.3 Busselton, with entries set to open on 25 July 2018. As the largest IRONMAN 70.3 event in the southern hemisphere, attracting elite and age group athletes from around the world and with a scenic backdrop set to rival any other on the calendar, SunSmart IRONMAN 70.3 Busselton will continue to be one of the most sought after IRONMAN 70.3 events on the global circuit.

‘This race continues as one of the few sell out IRONMAN 70.3 events in the region which will be celebrating its 17th year in the iconic location of Busselton in 2018’ said Peter Minchin, Executive Director, Triathlon WA.

Triathlon WA, as a not-for-profit organisation, is proud to deliver SunSmart IRONMAN 70.3 Busselton, which incorporates a 3-day festival of multi-sport events including the health & lifestyle expo, SunSmart Kids Triathlon, Open Water Swim and Fun Run. The unique character and athlete experience at this event is built around the amazing involvement of the West Australian triathlon community, who ensure that competitors from across the globe have a memorable time in Busselton. ‘Feedback from competitors from 2017 rated overall satisfaction of the event at 91%, with many competitors returning to this event year after year’ said Mr Minchin.

The event has grown from humble beginnings in Midland in 1983 to the present day where competitors representing 19 countries make the annual pilgrimage to the beautiful South West region of Western Australia.

The continued success of the sell-out, iconic event is built off the incredible support from the WA Triathlon community, our key partners Healthway, Tourism WA and the City of Busselton, our community partners and the local community, for which TWA are greatly appreciative.

In 2018, SunSmart IRONMAN 70.3 Busselton has 30 qualifying spots for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa. The event is also the Triathlon Australia National Long Course Championship, giving Triathlon Australia members the opportunity to battle for the title of National Champion in each age group.

Priority Triathlon Australia member registration offering a discounted entry price will open at 9am, Tuesday 25th July, with members saving $35 on the cost of General Entry (including One Day Licence).
